Shopify Plus Store
The goal of this project was to create a flexible, user-friendly platform capable of adapting swiftly to marketing promotions. They needed a solution that allowed for advanced scheduling of graphics and theme changes, which isn’t a native feature of Shopify. Additionally, the site required new features to showcase product and discount promotions effectively while ensuring accessibility and responsiveness, especially for mobile users.
My approach was centered on understanding Lauriebelles’ unique brand identity and customer base. Working closely with their marketing team, I mapped out a strategy to make the website not just a sales platform, but a dynamic marketing tool. This involved custom coding and integrating advanced features into their Shopify Plus store.
- Advanced Scheduling: I developed a custom feature for scheduling graphics and theme structure changes in advance, giving Lauriebelles an edge in dynamic content presentation.
- Promotional Features: Multiple areas of the site were tailored to insert product and discount promotions.
- High Accessibility Standards: The website was designed to maintain high accessibility standards, ensuring an inclusive shopping experience for all customers.
- Responsive Design: I made sure the site was fully responsive, particularly for mobile users.
- Traffic Spike Management: The platform was optimized to handle high traffic spikes, providing a smooth customer experience even during peak shopping periods.
Working with Lauriebelles has allowed me to push the boundaries of conventional web design and development in the e-commerce space. The project allowed me to explore out-of-the-box solutions within the Shopify platform, underlining the potential of customized web development in online shopping.
Technologies used:
- Shopify Plus
- Gulp
- Tailwindcss
- Alpinejs
- Google Firebase
- Algolia
- Netlify
- Github
E-commerce store running on the Shopify Plus platform. Gulp allowed me to create a custom file structure similar to what is used in many modern Javascript frameworks while still meeting Shopify’s requirements.
On the front end, I used Tailwind and Alpinejs. Alpinejs was used to add interactivity and state while keeping the JS size down.
I developed several embedded apps using Next.js, Google Firebase, and Netlify to handle internal business needs such as a wishlist, scheduling the release of products, and simplifying product organization. There are also multiple Pub/Sub jobs running in Firebase that take care of repetitive tasks (cleaning collections, tagging products after elapsed time, sending rewards notifications, etc).
